Saturday Clean-Up

Well, today we plan to get some things accomplished around the house. First, I wanted to get Kylie's 4th birthday pictures taken. Yes, it's past the birthday, but I wanted some shots of her for her "birthday cards" that we mail to friends and family. So, we headed out to the pond, driveway, and down to Mom & Jim's house to take some shots. Here's the birthday card that I made her--there were just too many cute shots!
Both of the kids start school Monday--Kylie will go to a new preschool and Weston starts 1st grade! They are pumped. I start school on Tuesday. I am ready for a new professor and the "feel good" classes!
Well, back to the weekend!

Honda Hell

Ok, let me start by saying I love my car, but I am not happy with it. First, I had a new transmission put in it in January (I bought it in September, so I only had 4,500 miles on the car). Secondly, the CD player starts acting up and I first complained about it in January. It would make this "fingernails on a chalkboard noise" and then just spit out the CD. Well, I was told that they needed to recreate the problem before they would replace it. Fine. So, June comes around--again, I complain. Same story. So, last Friday I am listening to my new Julie Roberts CD. My favorite song comes on and I am just singing along at the top of my lungs, until....the CD SKIPS! WHAT? I have only played the CD in my car. How could it be skipping?? So, I ejected the CD and looked at the bottom. There, on the CD is a scratch in the shape of a perfect circle. I was fuming! So, I pulled out Dierks Bentley....same thing only worse! The Wreckers--same situation. I am just livid at this point. My CD player that I complained wasn't working correctly 8 MONTHS AGO is now messing up all my CD's! So, I call the dealership last Friday and I get the "I'll have to call you back" line. Fine. So, no call by Monday and I call back again. Same song, second verse--"I'll have to call you back". Fine. At this point, they have until today to get back with me, then my other personality will be released. So, I received no call ALL week and today came. I called and let them know everything and anything I thought about the situation. Well, the CD player replacement is on order. Great. However, what about my CD's? "Sorry, we can't do anything about that." Oh, really? WRONG. I made them print out a service list of visits and logged issues when I brought in the car--proof that January was my first complaint. I get the Customer Service number and as I pull out of the driveway I let them know what I thought about the dealership and that they WOULD be buying me new CD's. The guy I talked with was really nice. He said I would have to probably mail in the ruined CD's (Ok, I have no use for them at this point!!) He said that he would assign a Case Manager to my situation and they would be contacting me by Tuesday to resolve. So, hopefully I have made my point and will get my CD's replaced. Basically, it's principle (and some dang good CD's I must say).
On a serious note, if you are reading this, then stop and say a prayer for my step-dad. I'll give more details on Monday. For now, just know it's not good.
Well, that's about it for this evening...we have canceled all of our plans this weekend (to spend time with my Dad), so tonight, I am going to sprawl out on the couch and do absolutely NOTHING. No research paper. No presentation. Nothing. And I couldn't be happier... :)

D-Day

Well, I can honestly say I did not want this day to come, but it's here! I am officially finished with my paper and presentation and I am ready to just get this day over with. Amanda and I are meeting at Starbucks and heading up north right after work (we have to go to the campus for this class for some reason instead of FS campus). So, pray for me that all goes well!
Well, yesterday was Kylie's birthday! We went to eat last night at Red Lobster (her choice) and she ate so good! She had a great time and made us sing Happy Birthday to her at the restaurant. Poor kid, I forgot the candles at her swim party the other night, then the cake they brought out last night didn't have a candle, so for her 4th birthday, she didn't get to blow out a single candle!
Here's a picture of Kay Lynn and I yesterday at her 40th birthday bash at work!
On another note, I am totally bummed out-Windfall was not picked up for the fall, so the last episodes are this month! :( I loved that show (or maybe I just loved 1 hour of doing nothing??)
Anyway, I am sad!!!

Super Kids on a Super Budget!

Ok, for the record, my kids are deprived...they just like the simple life I guess. Sure, we have "simplistic" living quarters, but they don't lack in the toy department. However, they felt the need to "make" Superhero costumes out of typing paper while they were at my Mei-Mei's this evening. Here are the results...Superman and Supergirl! :)

Cramming:
This week is all about how much can be crammed--crammed into 7 days, into each evening, and into a day at work. I feel like I have spent every waking moment on this stupid research paper, yet I still have a presentation and 6 more pages to go! I didn't even go over to Mei-Mei's last night for dinner for the college kiddos. I can't afford to miss out on quiet time in the barn cramming every possible detail into this paper so I can hit the magical 20 page mark. However, I stayed home last night and what happens? IT RAINS! Not just your nice shower, the horrible storm with tons of lightning....so, I sat there with no family, no TV (satellite was out), and the computer unplugged because I couldn't afford to lose what I had already done on this paper. I just stared at the ceiling, mulling over the fact that I was WASTING precious time! There was nothing I could do though. So tonight, the heat is on...I am typing so fast my fingers are numb! You should see this paper/presentation! I am even impressed with myself...there is hope for a B in this class after all!
Tomorrow is my boss' 40th birthday...Kay Lynn is turning the big 4-0! I wish I had time to make her a slideshow, but obviously not. We did order her a cake and decorated the building and her cube with embarrassing photos and tons of black stuff. She'll hate us for sure. It's worth it though! :)
Tomorrow is also Miss Kylie's 4th birthday....and we just had our dental visit and came home with a clean check-up. My pocketbook is cheering!
Well, I have to get this paper knocked out....I promise when it's over, I'm cramming again....this time it will be Chunky Monkey ice-cream though!

Kylie's Birthday Party

Well, last night was a huge success and the kids had a ball! There were about 10 kids there to swim and Kylie and her friends had such a great time. The party started with swimming and sliding down the water slide. Kobe went down the slide! He is getting so brave...the swim lessons really paid off. Then, Kylie opened some presents and ate cake/ice cream. Perhaps the most hilarious part of the evening is when one of the little guys dropped his pants and peed about 3 feet from where Kylie was opening presents. He just faced the crowd, dropped trout and peed right in the grass that led to the swimming pool! We were all cracking up! The kid never missed a beat--I don't think he realized that everyone was laughing at him! That was definitely a moment for Funniest Videos! Kylie got tons of great presents--dance clothes and shoes, golf clubs, new school clothes, and of course some Bratz! She thinks she is already 4--she doesn't understand that she still hasn't made it to her birthday. I am going to try and take her birthday pictures sometime this week, but this week is going to be extremely busy. Tomorrow night my Grandma is cooking dinner before Alyssa, Chad, and Jordan start college. Alyssa and Chad are moving on Friday to school. We will miss them! I can't believe they are old enough for college-I remember when I changed all of their diapers (wow, I just told my age!). Tuesday night is Meet the Teacher for Weston. Wednesday is Kylie's actual birthday and we plan to take her to dinner. Thursday is the dreaded day--my research paper is due. Plus, Kylie's Meet the Teacher is that night. I hate that I will miss it! This weekend we are headed to the Blues Fest--we had such a blast last year. We plan to get a hotel room to avoid the dreaded drive home. Karla and Billy are coming as well.
Oh, never underestimate the power of a blog--we have a 2nd gate up! No more torn up fence. Now, for the opener... :)
Well, it's late and tomorrow is just another "Manic Monday"!

Bunco Badness

Well, tonight was Bunco night. Ok, first of all the group is made of mostly Sunday School members, however a fly on the wall would've thought they entered the wrong house. Let me just say we had a blast and the conversations were NOT dull. First, Kelley kicks it off with her stick of "Head On"....I'll leave it there. Then, it was downhill from there. I think Andria and Missy wanted to hit their knees and pray for some of us, but deep down, they were laughing just as hard as we were. Jenny's husband Wade came home early and hid out in the other room, but you know had to have been dying at the conversations he was hearing because we were entirely too loud!
Tuesday evening, Kylie asked me where she could get some of those brown dots that Weston has on his face. It took me a minute to figure out what she was talking about....then I realized, she meant his freckles! I told her that God gave those to Weston and that she would have to take that up with God. She didn't really understand what I meant and went back to telling me that I needed to get her some of those dots. What she doesn't realize though is her porcelain skin is absolutely beautiful!
Well, tomorrow night is her big birthday party. So far, there are at least 10 kids coming over to swim, so it should be a fun and busy evening. She has been looking forward to this since the day after last year's party! :) I can't believe she's turning 4. It seems just yesterday she was turning 1. I know this is all going to pass too fast. I just pray that I cherish as many memories as possible.
I am experiencing some serious arachnid issues this evening. I walk in the house and went to the bathroom and when I turned on the light, a spider was on my chest! Then, as I am sitting here, a huge one just crawled under the table. I am calling my bug guy first thing Monday morning--YUCK!
Ok, now to the paper. I really want to knock this thing out tomorrow. It's looming over me like a large, dark cloud that is about to just let loose at any point in time. I really need to put it behind me so that I can enjoy my week. That's all for now...tomorrow's blog will have tons of fun pictures from Kylie's birthday party!

Broken

Ok, I really wish we could get some things around here "fixed". First, the gate opener I invested $500 in STILL doesn't work and we can't even determine why. It's frustrating to pay that kind of money for something and still have to get out and open a gate (especially when it's snake season). Not to mention, we now have TWO gates. Well, the 2nd gate is actually a fence--we are still waiting to FIX the gate and by that I mean replace it with a real gate panel. But guess what? That means getting out twice just to get to the road. It's hot, there's horse poop, and I shouldn't have to open a gate when I HAVE A GATE OPENER! Hey, the biggest FIX I need though is the house. Two years later we still leave in a metal building. Frustrating. Ok, I'll quit complaining. People have problems that are far worse than mine. Not sure what got me on that topic--just ready for the dust to settle.
Kylie is officially registered for dance class! She is going to be thrilled! Tonight, I went and ate with several friends who got together to visit with a couple that used to live here but moved away about 3 years ago. It is so amazing how much all of our kids are growing. Lily (Mike and Andria's little girl) is getting so big! She is the cutest thing as well....of course there's the small incident with Conner that put him in a cast, but hey, that's a minor detail!

Dog Whisperer

We all have our job hazards. My job hazards would include carpel tunnel syndrome, eye fatigue, headaches, depression.....well, I could go on. However, my husband's job hazards are very similar to the postman's job hazards. You see, he goes into the yards of customers to perform various technical maintenance responsibilities on their telephone lines. However, today he was met with hostility. Not by the owner, but by her precious 6 Jack Russell Terriers who obviously considered him a threat. Well, they proceeded to rip up his clothes and bite him a few times before he finally was able to get free. I can see it now....the tall guy standing in the yard shaking his leg profusely trying to detach the little bratty dog that refuses to let go! Ok, sorry Kyle, I know it's not funny! :) He finally broke free and went back to the office where they bandaged him up. Now, we just wait to see if the Rabies sets in....
Anyway, it's enough to make me stick to my desk job. Hey, I couldn't stand it if they chewed up the BCBG heels! :)

Slave to the Paper

I am trying, I am REALLY trying to get this research paper done! I HATE it though. Kylie's party is this weekend, so I really need to get my paper out of the way so that I am not worried about it and trying to cram it in when I should be worried about the party. I just hope there is a payoff attached to this degree. I couldn't stand to know it was in vain!
Well, I switched Kylie's preschool. It was really a knee-jerk decision, but I feel good about it. I am really worried that she just isn't getting enough where she's at. At 4, I would expect her to be able to write her name and know her letters. But, she doesn't and that really concerns me. She is already one of the youngest in her class, so she's already at a disadvantage. I don't want to hold her back, so I decided to try a new preschool. I don't think the current preschool director was happy with me, but I have to do what's best for my kiddos. Hopefully she will make the transition smoothly. She is pretty social.
Ok, back to the paper....it's not going anywhere.

Back to Church

Well, we are going back to church tomorrow. After about a 4 month hiatus, we are going to give it another shot. We haven't necessary been avoiding (ok, maybe a little), we have actually been busy. However, we do need to get the kids back in the groove and I think my "issues" with it have had enough time to die. So, we are gonna get up and get back to it. If we don't find that we are happy with our SS class when we go back, we are going to switch and try another. I just don't want to get out of the habit of going again. But, with school it's been hard this summer to go. My summer classes have been very demanding. So, we'll see what happens!
We went bowling tonight with some of the guys from Kyle's work. My high score...an 80!! :)
I am not your best bowler. But, it was fun--it was Cosmic Bowling (lights out, glow in the dark pins, and strobe lights as well as loud music), so we had a blast!

Research and Statistics

Well, this class is officially the worst one yet! I cannot stand Research and Statistics! I stink at stats--remember, I am an English major!!! The research wouldn't be bad except that this class is only 6 weeks long and the first four have been spent with my nose buried in the stats book! I have to seriously get cracking on this stuff (however, here I am blogging away, huh?) .
Oh well, just pray for me....I need to get this stuff done and soon. But Kylie had Morgan's birthday party tonight, tomorrow night is bowling night. Tomorrow morning I am supposed to take Laurie's bridal portraits as well. Sunday is Carrie's swim party. Tuesday night is Emma's birthday party as well as Kyle's mom's birthday. Next weekend is Bunco on Friday night and Kylie's birthday party on Saturday and Jordan's birthday on Sunday!
Ok, enough of that--it's making my head spin.
Kylie is going to take dance lessons this fall...we are hoping to break her of her "shake a booty" moves and replace them with more graceful (and appropriate) dance moves. She doesn't really know yet that she's taking dance lessons yet...that's party of the birthday surprise. She's also getting a little set of golf clubs. They are SO cute and tiny! Weston's lessons are still going alright--he just doesn't pay attention very well. He has his head in the clouds most of the time.
Well, we are at Robert and Kim's house visiting, so I should probably go and be social--I am just trying to do 2 things at once because at this point, this is the only way I will get anything done!

Fun Times

Well, last night was GREAT fun! We went to hear the Chris Cameron band at the Rib Room last night and had so much fun! Everybody was so impressed with Chris-he is so talented and sounded great. Emily is such a hoot! She had us laughing the whole evening (either her or Karla)...
First, we ate at the Hamburger Barn. The food was great and it wasn't crowded, so it was nice to sit in the A/C and just hangout for a bit. But, you could tell we were getting silly toward the end, so we decided to move it down to the Rib Room before our conversations grossed out the table next to us! :) At the Rib Room, we got a quaint table in the corner and sat back and enjoyed the show. However, Karla and Emily were feeling good a little while later, so they were just as much of a show as the band.
Afterwards, we went to Denny's and Karla and Kyle ate huge breakfasts! Billy and I just sat back and laughed at the people that came in there--the 40 year old in the red leather mini skirt took the prize! Hey, Kyle, what color of lipstick was that you were wearing? :)

New Pictures of Weston

Ok, Weston's turn. Here's some new pictures of him (well, the first set, I'll show the 2nd set tomorrow). He is turning into quite a little man! I am sooooo incredibly drained and I have a ton of homework to do! Tomorrow night should be fun--I am looking forward to it. Kyle, Billy, Karla, Amanda, Bret, and I are going out to dinner and then to listen to a live band. I am ready to get out a little bit, but definitely have to get ahead on my school work first. I am viewing tomorrow night as a "reward" for working on this stuff!

New Pictures of Miss Kylie

Here's some new pictures of Miss Kylie! Doesn't she look so grown up? She is changing SO much and her hair is getting long! I just think she looks absolutely beautiful in these pictures, but hey I am a little biased! Her swim lessons went great tonight-she went underwater twice. That is a major accomplishment for her!

Well, tonight was our last night of golf lessons--I stink. Bottom line. I am either going to have to commit to practicing our get a few bucks out of my clubs!

Well, I have finally found a topic for my research paper-just need to actually sit down and write it! This class is draining me and I am not even putting the effort I should be putting into it.

Schwing!

Well, I had my 4th of 5th golf lessons this evening! What a hoot...I don't know that I am getting any better, just getting more and more practice at being awful! So, we start out practicing in the sand. That really wasn't that bad. Afterwards, we head back to the driving range. Well, my 2nd ball hits the girl next to me! I was so embarrassed and felt horrible. She was fine--it hit her knee, but still my intentions were to improve by taking lessons and not to injure someone! A girl I met in class invited me over for a swim party tomorrow evening, so hopefully that will be a nice relaxing evening. Kylie's swimming lessons are going well also. She's getting more comfortable in the water, so that's a huge step!
Well, we are in the midst of planning Miss Kylie's 4th birthday party. It looks like it is going to be a "Supergirl Swim Party"....should be loads of fun now that both kids are enjoying the pool. Weston even went underwater Sunday and was really trying hard to swim. He is determined to learn--I am SO proud of him!

A-Team

I can't believe I have actually waited this long to share the good news---I made an A in my last class! Yes, an A in the class I just knew I would flunk! I am SO thrilled that I have kept my 4.0!
However, this class will be the end of my reign I am afraid. Stats and Research are not my forte.
I am such a spoiled brat--while I am typing this blog, Kyle is giving me a foot bath/scrub/massage! WHAT A MAN! Well, I am gonna turn in for the evening...it's late and I am ready to get some sleep!

Dallas Visit-Saturday Night

Well, Saturday night of the concert weekend truly rocked! It was outside and a wretched hot evening, however we didn't care-plenty of beer and good music! We were on row 11 of 30,000 people! Talk about AWESOME seats! Also, the stage came out on the side, so technically when they came down the ramp, we were only 3 rows back. First up was Carrie Underwood (who Kyle now thinks is totally hot--is she his new Faith? HA!) She did great! Second up (though surprised he was next??) was Dierks himself--Hello Nelly! What a cutie! He did great as well! We really enjoyed hearing him. The last time I saw him was in 2004 opening up with Kenny Chesney. After Dierks was Pat Green. Now I am not a true Pat Green fan, but I really enjoyed his live show. He really put everything he had into it!

There were even a few songs of his that I hadn't heard that were pretty good ones. After Pat though the house rocked. This is my 3rd time to see Kenny Chesney and everytime it's been a great concert. These were my best seats so far. Plus, UNCLE KRACKER showed up! What an awesome surprise. He was at the last year's concert and I love hearing him. He also sang "Follow Me" which is my favorite Kracker song. We met a nice couple that sat next to us and had such an awesome time. My ONLY beef with the whole evening was the TWENTY DOLLAR PARKING! I REFUSED to pay $20 to leave my car. The tickets were $75 each, beer again was $7 a piece and I was not about to waste my $$$ on parking. So, the stubbornness in me made Kyle park over a mile away at some business and walk. Yes, walk. In the heat. But overall we had a blast. If you consider the amount we spent on this weekend, we could've probably taken a small vacation, but I LOVE concerts! Especially the people we saw this weekend.

Dallas Visit-Friday Night

Well, we are back from our Dallas visit--two awesome concerts! We had such a blast Friday night at Faith and Tim. Our seats were great and they gave a great performance--only bad thing is that when they get so big, they can't sing all of their hits, so you don't get to hear all of the faves, but their duets were great! They even sang a couple of duets that are not recorded, so that was an awesome treat. We got to Greg and Carrie's house Friday about 6 pm, so it was major rush-rush to get downtown to the concert! We were floored at the cost of drinks--$7 per beer! GEEZ! When you consider the tickets were $85 each, and it was $10 to park, plus snacks/drinks, it really makes going to a concert almost impossible anymore! This picture is actually from Saturday night after all of the concerts were over--don't we look exhausted??
For some reason, my Tim and Faith pic wouldn't upload?

CCR Rocked!

Well, we had such a blast last night at the concert...they did awesome! They recorded a live DVD and CD when we were there so as soon as it comes out we'll have to get it so we can relive the evening over and over and over!!! :) Seriously though, it was such a great concert--they just put on a good show anytime we have seen them...this made #3! They are coming to the fair in September and you can bet we'll be there!
Well, Kylie's fever got as high as 103 degrees yesterday...I still don't know what was wrong with her, but she was fine today. We took our pictures this morning-Kylie did the best! Weston was a little stiff and too worried I think, so hopefully some of his came out as he is the reason when went to get them done. We should have them back this week to view.
Oh and I can't write about today without telling you that the day included a visit to PF Chang's! YUM!

Tulsa Trip

Well, we made it to Tulsa, OK last night. I am so ready to see CCR....hopefully it will be a good show! Billy and Karla have never seen them, so I hope they like the show as well. Alyssa came with us to watch the kids tonight, so that way we didn't have to beg any family back home. Kylie and Weston have pictures tomorrow, have Kylie is not feeling well. She feels sooo hot! I had Kyle run and get some tylenol for her. She can't get sick!

Thursday, July 13, 2006

Thurs-tee

Ok, corny title I know, but guess what? It's late, late, and late and I have done about a bajillion things today! So, you get the corny title tonight. Anyway, I went to my first golf lesson. Hey, I actually HIT THE BALL! I was impressed, too! I think the relaxed setting amongst people who also had NO clue really helped!
Also, Weston's teeball final for the tournament championship was tonight and they won! They went completely undefeated throughout the entire season--like 23 or 24 games. They are the only team in the church league that did that! Congrats guys!
Well, tomorrow we leave for Tulsa. We are going to see Cross Canadian Ragweed and I am pumped!

Monday, July 10, 2006

2 Tees

Well, we won our first round in the tournament...however the teams are getting better and we don't play as hard as we did at the beginnning. I honestly think the boys are tired! Weston starts golf lessons tomorrow night and then has a game right after that! So, 2 Tees--I at teeball and one in golf! :) We are going to be running mad tomorrow night trying to get everywhere we need to be. I hope the kids win, but I am ready for teeball to be over.
Guess what Wednesday is? 1st day of class...again! I am so not ready for this. We have to drive twice to Springdale. Luckily the class is only 6 weeks long, but it will be more intense pain as he is the professor I had for this last class. Well, I took some Tylenol PM and I am struggling to stay awake.

Daisy Patch

Well, we had great weekend! Friday night was the SheDaisy concert and it was lots of fun. I went backstage and met them and then we listened to the concert. Rebel came and watched the kids and they loved that! SheDaisy isn't as famous as Rascal Flatts, etc, however they are a group I have followed since we lived in Russellville, so it was neat to meet them and enjoy the concert! Yesterday Weston and I went to his golf orientation at First Tee...he got a golf towel and t-shirt and I think he's geared up for lessons. That afternoon was our last teeball practice before we start the tournament tomorrow...we are really hoping for a tourney win to cap off the season!

Joinin' the Gym

Well, I found a new home to fix my poor body....Kyle and I joined the gym. It's a little hefty in the price tag, but there's tons to do and we hope to get some results. I hope to at least stop the cellulite from creeping any further down my legs!
I am supposed to get my grade for my last class today, but no such luck. Hopefully, he'll have them posted tomorrow. I am anxious to see the damage!
We are down to 8 puppies and they are going fast. Some of those are spoken for, but I don't count them gone until they are officially leaving with new owners. We put an ad in the paper, so hopefully that'll get rid of the last of the bunch.
I'm sleepy tonight...working out did me in!

Happy 4th of July

Well, the 4th of July has come and gone...too bad it decided to rain here about the time we were supposed to go swimming and shoot fireworks! The kids were really looking forward to doing it, but of course the weather didn't cooperate. I don't know what else we expected--we made plans for outside, so of course here comes the rain! :)
We had a good time at his parents' house though...we ate and ate and then played regular horseshoes and hillbilly horseshoes. I really wanted to post a picture on here of the kids on the slip and slide, but I can't find my cord for my digital camera, soooo I will do it tomorrow from the other computer. We had a puppy scare this afternoon. We came home and I noticed there were only 8 puppies (remember 1 already has a new home) in the pen. Well, the more I looked, I noticed it was one of the puppies that was already promised to someone. So, I immediately started to panic! We searched and searched and couldn't find it. Well, finally, when we got to the middle gate to close it, Kyle heard whimpering from a brush pile nearby and went and dug out the puppy! She was just fine, but very scared! I had already called the girl who was taking her and was giving her the news, but luckily I was able to tell her the good news as well!
Well, that's all for tonight...I really want to read a bit before bedtime!

Monday, July 03, 2006

Then there were 9

Well, one puppy has a new home tonight. Clark a.k.a. Superman, the only black male, went to live with Matt and Kathryn tonight. I am sad but know they will take great care of him. We have homes for three more, but they don't leave for a few more days. Now, we just have to find homes for the rest of them. Tomorrow is 4th of July! Tons of food and fun! The kids are pumped about shooting off fireworks....we bought some last year and didn't even shoot them. I just got word today that I got a Meet and Greet pass for the SheDaisy concert Friday night! Kyle says my new nickname is Backstage Pass now! :) I am trying to see how many famous people I can meet in 2006!

Click!

We are sponsoring a Tough Man Competition at work and had to order a shirt for this guy that will represent us in some marketing collateral. Well, here's an idea of how big the guy is....I want him on my team for sure! :) Just to give you an idea--this shirt is a 5X.
Well, last night Kyle and I had a date night...and had a blast (oh and no kids!). First stop, Olive Garden where we ate and ate and ate! It was good! Then, off to the movies. This is where I had my reflection moment. We wanted to see something that Weston wouldn't be able to see (we are saving Superman and X-Men for him), so we decided on Click! with Adam Sandler. I thought we were going to see a light comedy, well it turned out to be really deep for an Adam Sandler movie (or maybe it just hit home). The movie is about a guy who gets a universal remote control and is able to control his world with it. He can fast forward through the rough times and go back and reflect on other times. But, it turns out he misses a lot of life when he does this. Ultimately, his life is ruined because of it. I guess it hit home because I have done this at times (No, I don't have a universal remote control). But, I have been on "auto-pilot" and missed some really good moments in life. It hit home when I realized there have been times I have missed in life. Luckily for me, when I put down "my remote", Kyle was still there for me, waiting. However, I can't get back those two years with him. Do I regret missing that time? No, I learned so much about myself, my friends, my family, and life in general. But, I don't want to miss anymore of life! I have still had a remote in my hand too many times--too busy at times with work, school, and things that ultimately aren't going to matter one day. It was kind of surreal....I realized I hadn't fully dealt with losing my great-grandpa and others who have passed away in the past few years. So, my promise to myself--enjoy life. I won't look back and live in the past. There were some good times, yes, but there are plenty more to be enjoyed in the future. I am robbing my future by concentrating on the past. Just remember-you don't want to wake up one day and realized you didn't fully live life.
Moving on to today--we have new carpet in the building! Yeah! I can't believe what a little carpet can do to a place. We still have to get the place put back together, but we have made such progress....Thank you Kyle! It looks great! I can stand it here a little longer now that it has a new floor! :)

Un-DA-feated!

Yeah, that's right...Weston's team went undefeated this season! Everyone wanted to be the ones to beat us, but they didn't do it! :) I am soooo glad, we held on--there were so mouthy Mommas that I didn't mind putting in their place with a win. Post-season tournament starts in a week...I have a little time to get my blood pressure down before it gets heated again!
Ok, enough--it's teeball! Anyway, we celebrated this evening by swimming at my Grandma's house. Kylie got in the pool! I was so proud of her! She had a blast. Weston even did great swimming. He was all over the pool.
Well, we got our syllabus for the next class-it starts in a week. I am NOT looking forward to it. Kyle promised a New York trip though if I complete my Masters--that's motivation! :)

No Kissing at this Make-up Game

Well, we played one of our make-up teeball games tonight...let's just say I put a church on the "I won't ever visit list" after their attitude at the game...they were pretty brutal. Everyone seems out to get us since we are undefeated and the games have become unbearable at this point. I mean when they get the video cameras out to do instant-replays at a teeball game, that's pretty ridiculous! Only one more regular season game tomorrow night and then we are done! Yes, we have post-season tournament games, but the regular season comes to an end. Weston also starts golf lessons in a couple of weeks, so I am looking forward to that! At least there won't be any competition except with himself. I think Kylie is going to take swim lessons...I hope we survive that!
**Well, we are kidless for the second night in a row...:) I have to admit it's kind of nice!!! The kids have taken turns at each of the grandparents house since we got back and Kyle and I are enjoying our freedom. Anyway, no complaints here. **
On that note, I am turning in for the evening!

It's Official....

Well, we are back from DC finally. It's kind of good to be home--no rain! :) But, we had to get an early start this morning to get back, so I am exhausted this evening. At the airport in Memphis, I called on our "investment" and in order to finalize some things, I had to change my driver's license to reflect my married name. That didn't sit well with me--anyone that knows me, knows I do things in my time. Plus, I liked my driver's license picture! :) Seriously, it's just a pain to change everything and I wanted my name hyphenated (for several reasons) and so when it came to do it, I wanted to do it right. Well, I guess it was that time. So, we made it home, I showered and headed down to the DMV. Well, she gives me 4 names instead of a hyphenated last name. Close enough I guess....small town southern style that no one will acknowledge the ability to hyphenate a name! But my driver's license shows both names, so the purpose is served that I have either if I need them. But, it's official. I am now someone else. Funny how a few letters can change a person's existence. When you get married and take someone's name, you are not the same person both figuratively and literally.
Anyway, we picked up our puppies at the vet's office where they were boarding (they have grown)! We got them settled and then went and closed on our "investment" deal. So, it's been a busy day to say the least. I picked up my copy of Julie Robert's new album this evening as well. Her first album is still hard for me to listen to since it came out at a transitional point in my life 2 years ago. I could relate (and still relate) with those songs and I have a hard time listening to the CD. But, I pulled it out the other day and listened to it. Funny how a song can a paint a mural of familiarity, a picture of the past. Hopefully this 2nd CD will bring new memories with it as well!

Day 3 in DC

Well, I have to start out with the remainder of last night...that's when the fun started. So, after I blogged last night, we set out to ESPN Zone to have dinner. It's about 12 blocks away and it was not raining, so we thought we'd be alright. Well, we get about 1/2 way to our destination when the rain decides to come. It wasn't bad though, we were damp, but nothing major. We get to ESPN Zone and there's a 40 minute wait (which turned into over an hour). So, the kids play a few games and we visited the ESPN shop. We finally get seated and eat dinner. Kyle LOVED the BIG screen. I haven't been to an ESPN Zone before and right in front of our table was a row of recliners with TV trays for front row viewing of the game. A man's paradise! We eat dinner and get ready to leave, only to notice that at this point it is pouring down rain! So, we decided to run a block away to Ben & Jerry's and enjoy a little ice cream hoping the rain would give up. Boy, were we wrong. As we finished our ice cream, the storm blew in! We tried hailing a cab, but of course they are all full. So, we ran from awning to awning trying to stay dry. At a certain point, though it didn't matter. The distance between the awnings grew and the rain came down heavier than ever! About 6 blocks later, we were drenched! The roads were starting to flood and we were frantically trying to run...a lady even felt sorry for us and made her cab driver pull over so she could give us her umbrella! But at that point, it didn't matter. Make-up was running down my face and my pants were so wet I could barely keep them up. It was awful! But the kids were laughing the whole time... We finally made it back to the hotel and the gentleman at the desk was just shaking his head and laughing! We got up to the room and were able to ring out a ton of water from our clothing. What an experience!
So, today was the last day of the exhibit and it was definitely busy...the kids and Kyle went to see as many sights as they could that were open. Unfortunately, the dinosaurs and the other Smithsonian museums were still closed, but they visited the Capitol Building and Weston got his picture made with a DC cop and his Harley motorcycle!

Day 2 in DC

Well, my day was filled with mostly work, however Kyle and the kids ventured out and saw some of the sights. Except, as you have probably seen on the news, we are flooded up here. Two of the Smithsonian musuems (the ones they wanted to see) were closed due to flooding. Cross your fingers that they reopen tomorrow...the kids are dying to see the dinosaurs! Here's Weston with the first airplane (the Wright brothers). Yes, we finally have some digital photos! :)
Well, I am exhausted, so this post will be short tonight.....

Where to Start?

Well, I must admit the last two days have been quite the adventure! First, we made it safely to Washington, DC...hey, guess what? We were delayed!! :) That's travelin' w/Tara! But, once we arrived, things got crazy for awhile. We decided to go eat at the Hard Rock Cafe which was quite the walk from the hotel we were at. First of all, this hotel was only for one night since they didn't have a room for me at the right hotel. Back to story--we head out and being the tourists we are (and the lucky hotel guests as well), we walked right through a yucky part of town...I would consider this as close to the projects as I probably have ever been and will ever be. Let's put it this way, when Kyle is scared, I know to be frightened! Did I mention it is also pouring down rain at this point? And, did I mention we have no umbrella? Also, I stuck out like a redneck in the city with my huge purse and camera bag. I might as well have put a flashing sign on my head that said, "MUG ME!" But we make it to Hard Rock finally and boy, did Kylie have a shake a booty moment (ok, about 30 minutes)! After we ate, we headed back, again through the projects and at this point in the dark....we also found the alley where they film all the scary movies. You know, the one from the Tim McGraw, "Please Don't Take the Girl" video! As we approach the hotel, we get about 10 feet from front door when the biggest RAT, not mouse, but RAT crosses right in front of me. Tail and all, the thing is about 15 inches long and I bet he weighed a couple of pounds. At this point, my metal building is screaming my name!
So, today I am thinking, it can't get worse, right? WRONG! First, we have to switch hotels before I go meet my coworker at the exhibit hall to setup our booth. Well, as I am trying to dry my hair, the electric goes off. I am already running late at this point, the kids are screaming to eat and I just want to go back to bed after being up half the night working on my homework for class. We get to the other hotel finally and as we get to the front desk, Weston starts puking! I am thinking that a stiff drink would be nice right now! We get checked in finally and I race to the convention center, 30 minutes late. Dick, my coworker is already there fighting the booth panels. We look like the blind leading the blind trying to assemble this thing! But we get it up and running. I decide to catch up with the family and see the sights. Well, I head back to the hotel first, however they are gone. I call Kyle and figure out where they are and then realize my cell phone is dying. In a rush, I leave the hotel...here's where the Mastercard commercial starts.

Plane Tickets for Family to DC: $1000
New Camera to replace one lost in Nashville: $252
Remembering that camera as I head to the White House: priceless

Yes, I left the camera in the room. My free time is scarce here and I leave my camera in the room! So, we stop at a CVS (think WalGreen's) and I buy a $15 disposable...a photographer's nightmare! Where's my zoom? My LCD preview? My DELETE button? But, it was either that or no pictures! Then, here comes the rain again! So, now it is me, my disposable camera, and the cardboard box it came in acting as a raincoat for the camera as I try to capture pictures of the White House, Lincoln Memorial, and all the war Memorials! What a riot! But we enjoy the few hours of freedom and then I head back to work the booth for a few hours.
Meanwhile, as I am working at the exhibit hall, the kids and Kyle venture out and decide to head to Ford Theatre. Guess what? The President comes while they are there. Kyle said it was awesome to watch the setup and arrival. Guess what? He also forgot the camera! Evidently, they were filming a 4th of July special to be aired on one of the main channels on the 4th. Supposedly, there were also several famous people there as well. Who knows who all showed up. He said as famous people arrived, they were dropped off at a tent, so you couldn't see them. However, when the President arrived, they got to see him because he waved out the window. So, be looking for it! We ate dinner about 2 blocks away at a dive because we couldn't get into the restuarants that were close to it. Well, that's about all for now! Except, I FINISHED MY CLASS--YES, FINISHED! Yeah! Freedom for 1 week!

Rained Out

Well, our last two teeball games have been rained out...oh well. That just means we will have 4 games in one week probably. Here's a picture of the little teeball player himself...check out those shades!
We have so much to do to prepare for tomorrow. I came home this evening to find 2 puppies out of the pen and the rest soaking wet from the rain...and boy do they have 'tudes! They are feisty critters!
I went by Best Buy to return the camera case and memory card from my purchase yesterday since I won't be needing them anymore (Kay Lynn is buying the camera) and as I was walking across the parking lot, I broke the heel on my shoe! I hobbled to my car looking like a complete gimp! It took all I had to not stop at Shoe Carnival on the way home and get a new pair! Kyle, you should be proud....I actually WORE OUT a pair of shoes!
Well, my next post will be from DC! Hopefully I can load some pictures there as well. My laptop is just not powerful enough to support my photo programs, but we'll see what we can do!

Lost and Found

Well, I did it again. I left a piece of me at one of my previous locations! Let me start from the beginning. May 2005, I went to San Diego and left my ring I had bought in Cancun in the lobby of the hotel on the last day there. Well, I just knew it was gone for good. However, 2 months later, a coworker convinced me to call the hotel and just check to see if someone might have turned it in. Well, it was there and shortly thereafter, they mailed it back to me!
So, fast forward to the present....I went to Nashville about 2 months ago, and ever since I have not been able to find my small digital camera. So, today I go out and buy a new one. Well, I told the same coworker that I had went and bought a new camera to take to DC this weekend. She asked if I had bothered to call the hotel and check to see if it had been returned. I told her no and she again convinced me to just check and see...guess what? It was there! They are mailing to me tomorrow....However, I am not sure how many items I have to leave behind before I learn my lesson!
Well, we leave for DC in just 36 hours! I have yet to pack a thing...Colin Powell is speaking Sunday at the conference I am attending and I hope to get to hear him...what an opportunity!

Gaining Ground

Here's one of our newest little members! Isn't he cute? I wanted to capture some of the puppy features before they were all gone. They are changing so much each day! We have two puppies that are "spoken for" and we are keeping one of them. Her name is Addison (yes, after Grey's Anatomy).

Well, I can't say much about the details on here (you never know who could be reading! Ha!), but we have made some decisions about our living quarters and let's just say we are "gaining ground". I am excited...it's a small step, however it represents a significant commitment. I like to consider it an "investment". Hopefully we will see the next step soon! So, just know that there has actually been some progress....we are still living in the building and will probably be here for at least another year though.

Weston is going to take golf lessons at First Tee in a couple of weeks. He has really started liking golf ever since our Mexico trip. He practices almost every night and is doing fairly well. I think it will be good for him to learn a few basics and some of the sportsmanship that goes along with playing.

Well, we leave for Washington, DC on Saturday morning...the kids are excited! Especially Weston...he can't wait to see the Lincoln Memorial. I am ready as well...I need a break from the grind. The ironic thing is that we come home on Wednesday and my brother will be there late Wednesday for a Beta Club trip...too weird!

Ok, I am in dire need of finishing my part of the group project, so I'll cut this short. Teeball tomorrow night...GO FBC!

Sweat Bay

I am at Sweet Bay trying to kill time until Weston's teeball game starts...however, it is more like SWEAT bay because I am outside and it is considerably warm! I should be typing away on my part of our group presentation, however I am not feeling it just yet....hopefully it will come soon though! Between the sweat dripping off of my face and the cigarette smoke from the girl next to me, I am cranky and not in the mood to do anything productive. It was one of those days at work too. A scheduled 9 hour day that for some reason seems pointless.
Wow, a breeze. Now the sweat is dried to my body!
We're still in a toss up as to what we want to do about our current living quarters. We have a few ideas in the pipes, but nothing has materialized as of yet. However, the Cumbie's are donating the carpet from their house, so we will get "new floors". It makes me sad to think I will forever lose the "mystery stain" that has graced my "living room" for the past two years!
Well, I am sure my cranky post is not reading enjoyment, so I will focus my efforts on my schoolwork....maybe.

Life is a Highway

So, Cars it is! The radar shows the never-ending storm during the party time, so I think we made the right decision. 4 of his little friends are able to go, so I think he will still have a good time. I just hate that he didn't get to have his other party. I know that he was looking forward to fishing. Everyone has said that Cars is good though, so I think it'll be a fair trade.
Kylie looks adorable...she has on her new outfit we bought her in Mexico....it's precious, but on the small side. Which means that she won't be wearing it very long.
Tomorrow is Father's Day which means the daily split. Mom is cooking brisket (yummy!) and the Cumbie's will probably have the usual grilled feast as well. However, Tara is in dire need of finishing her homework. Why is it that I wait until the last moment to do it? This is the last week though...so hopefully I can get it in gear and finish up.

Mellow

Mellow...that's me right now. Why? Because I just pumped a pain killer for my back that is hurting so badly I can't think straight. Therefore, I am in a fog, but not in pain. I am not sure what I did to it...it's got a "pinching" feeling surrounded by sore muscles courtesy of my efforts of trying to avoid the pinching feeling by sitting in some awkward positions. Just my luck. Coming back from lunch today, I looked like I was constipated as I walked across the parking lot.
So, we reschedule Weston's birthday party and guess what? Rain. Yes, rain is going to be here tomorrow...and not the 20% chance stuff, we're talking the 80% chance that let's you know IT WILL RAIN. I can't win for losing! So, instead we may go see Cars and eat pizza. I just hate that I have tanked all this money into plates, party favors, etc for a "fishing party" only to have to pack up and go to the movies. Which might I add, won't be cheap. But the things we do for our kiddos!
On another note, Kyle has given me a new nickname...Ticket Master. Why? Because we are going to 4 concerts between July 7 and July 22. I am pumped too! First off, we will be seeing SheDaisy in Fayetteville on July 7. Then, it's off to the LIVE DVD recording at Cain's Ballroom with Cross Canadian Ragweed....now that will be AWESOME. I love CCR!!!!! Then, it's Tim McGraw and Faith Hill in Dallas on a Friday night and Kenny Chesney, Sugarland, and Dierks Bentley in Dallas on a Saturday night....I am an official concert junkie. Summer is here!
Well, Kylie got moved back to Ms Wanda's class this week. After some more "bad havior," Miss Tina conceded and put her back with Wanda. Which didn't hurt my feelings. I wasn't too thrilled with Miss Whitney's little note that my kid "was rude" in class. Let's learn to not let our subjectivity impede our ability to communicate......

Chasing Rabbits

Amanda and I met this evening to frantically try and gain some ground on our 2 major projects that are due in 10 days...and all I can do is chase rabbits. What I mean is my mind is everywhere else but on school. Why? Because my mind has ONLY been on school for the last 8 weeks and I am losing interest. I will be glad to change courses in 2 weeks. Although, I am trading for Statistics and Research...not so much appealing either!
On another note, we had our late teeball game tonight and I think my heart is still racing. That game was close! We won by only 1 run and the game was tight until the end....the kids played some ball. Plus, I think the team we played honestly wanted to beat us. Being undefeated sure has its negatives. For one, EVERYONE wants to beat YOU for bragging rights in the league. Secondly, the parents (yes, including myself) get INTO THE GAME. I was on my feet, in the air, screaming, hands waving the entire game....Not to mention the Grandma in front of me who decided to run her mouth. Doesn't she know not to do that with me in a 10 foot radius? However, I was behaved and didn't say anything while she began running us down for winning. She made a fool of herself on her own. And lastly, when you have a really good player on your team like we do, all anyone can say is that we don't play fair. Now how is having a good player defined as not playing fair? PLEASE. Teeball parents: Grow up.
Well, it's late and I'm still fired up from the game, so I best go before I run my mouth! :)

2 a.m. Wake Up Call

Well, we moved Sally and her pups up to our house last night. Kyle built a temporary (yes, Kyle I said temporary!) pen for the dogs and we got Sally and all 10 pups settled last night. Well, around 2 a.m. I hear what I thought was the alarm going off. My first thought was, "Nice Kyle, set the alarm for the middle of the night!" But then when he started talking out loud, I just figured he had COMPLETELY lost it! However, it didn't take long to figure out he was talking to Mom and they were talking about Sally. Evidently, she had jumped out of the pen and headed down to Mom's house. Then, she proceeded to corner a muskrat and got herself all worked up (as well as all of the dogs in the valley). Jim had to bring her home last night and we finally got her situated back in her doghouse with the pups.
Talk about a rude awakening!

What's the Point?

I have decided not to clean house anymore...for a couple of reasons.
1) The kids can trash it 10 times faster than I can clean it!
2) I can't find anything after I clean.

We have finally rescheduled Weston's birthday party for next weekend. No camping, just fishing and hot dogs. It should be lots of fun!
Well, I am just stalling before starting on my homework that's due in 5 hours, so I better get to it! We have Glory Road to watch tonight...that's my reward if I can get my homework done!

Addictions

Well, I am officially addicted....after buying nearly a dozen pints (not all at once, but still)....I am a sucker for Ben and Jerry's Chunky Monkey ice cream....the stuff rocks! I think that I have finally met my ice cream match...and it's a match made in heaven. It has been my escape, my release....the stuff is just plain good!
Tonight was Bunco night....came home w/$15....go me!
I should seriously being doing my homework for class, but I HATE it!

"Havior was good"

Kylie cracks me up! Her behavior hasn't been very good this past week at school (so says the sheet that she brings home) and when I asked her if she was a good girl today, she said, "Let me go get my sheet, Momma." She comes back and tells me that it says her, "Havior was good today." (It actually said her behavior was OK, but she feels that's good enough!) It was so cute to hear her say that!
This week has flown by! Thank goodness....I feel like I live for weekends these days. This weekend we have 2 tee ball games and a birthday party, so I am sure the weekend will fly by as well. The teeball team is still undefeated though...
OH, and still 10 puppies! We are on our way right now to check on them.

D-E-F-E-N-S-E

Ok, I cheered for defense in high school, but defensive? No. To me, being defensive is a sign of guilt, an admission of wrong-doing. So, when I come to you to TALK about something, no need to get defensive...unless you're guilty. I wish people would give up the fight, would learn it's not worth it. It's a lot easier to just get along than to constantly battle. As a family, it's better to talk things through, not get DEFENSIVE when someone tries to talk to you. I was only trying to share my feelings, communicate, and hopefully come to an understanding. But, obviously it's used as a way to cut ties.
Well, consider them cut. I have no need for that in my life. I promise, it will hurt you a lot more than it hurts me.

Thirsties

Well, what do you tell a 3 year old about nursing? Ok, HOW MUCH do you tell a 3 year old? Kylie is so curious about how these puppies are getting milk. I tell her that Sally makes milk and they eat it out of the bottles attached to her. Well, now she's confused because I have had to make an actual bottle or two since we have so many. So tonight, she asked if all of Sally's "thirsties" had milk in them! It was so funny...it took me a minute to figure out what she was talking about!
We still have all 10 pups. I can't believe it. There are actually 3 colors. There are some that are a golden blond and some that are a sandy color. One golden one, a girl, has a white stripe between her eyes. I am going to have to start naming them. I guess I have waited so that I don't get too attached!
Back to the grind tomorrow!

That There's An RV!

We went to see the movie "RV" tonight and let me just say that Robin Williams is hilarious! This movie was great...right up there with Christmas Vacation on the RV movies! We laughed our butts off! Kylie spent the night with Alyssa tonight...it was so cute, she asked if she could go "Hang out" with Alyssa tonight...not "can Alyssa babysit me?" but HANG OUT! She's 3!
Anyway, she decided she just wanted to stay the night, so I told her that was fine although I did my whole panic thing until they actually got to the house!
But, they're home safe....Kyle's asleep and I am trudging through yet ANOTHER chapter of business blah. This class will be the death of me and everyone around me....there's just too much to do. Sad thing, I won't make an A after ALL of this work!
Oh well, as long as I get a B I'm alright-the 4.0 will be gone, but my sanity will be hanging by a thread.

Sat on my rear day

Ok, Saturday is supposed to be my catch up day...because I put off doing every other thing I should do until then. However, I am so not in the mood for ANOTHER quiz and ANOTHER test! Please let the pain end soon. It will, that's the problem. I won't be ready when it is though!
Today's agenda: swim at Dan's and off to the movies hopefully. You have to take advantage of the time when people OFFER to watch the kids! I have some much I need to do...house is a total wreck, school is not going away, so on and so on. But the other stuff sounds more appealing!
Why is it that on vacation we proceed to eat so much that we know we will be dieting for a year afterwards! I pigged out on the all you can eat, anytime you want to eat meals and now bikini season is just a thorn in my side! :)

News

Well, I was waiting for some news...you know, the kind that your adrenaline lives off of, the hope that keeps you motivated during the day, the fuel that drives your every ability to function. I got my news--it wasn't what I wanted. That's about all I can say about it. Just know I am gloomy now--confused. My tunnel is dark, my path is murky.
On another note, Sally and the pups are still doing great. We took Kylie to see "Over The Hedge" tonight since Weston is in Branson. When we left, she said, "That's scary!" I also think she was having an "I would like to trade my parents moment" when Kyle and I began singing at the top of our lungs to some oldie on the way to the movie. We were doing our best Bee Gee duet and all Kylie could say was, "Quit making that funny voice guys!"
I know now what it feels like on the "other side" now. I am the "not cool" parent!

Still 10

Well, we still have all 10 pups! After two days, they have all survived. Thank the Lord! There is one that is definitely a runt though, but a fighter. He definitely has spunk. They are all cute! Sally has the mothering thing down to an art now, so all is well. Last night we got to watch her move them and get them where she wanted them. It was so amazing to watch her adapt to the requirements and care for the pups.
I am so tired and drained. It didn't take long for the R&R to run out from last week. Good news is that it is Friday tomorrow, so hopefully I will gain some spunk. Weston is going with Debbie & Gomer to Branson for the weekend--just the boys, Weston and Tristan. Should be fun for all....Mom and Dad will use the time to play catch up with all the regular doings.

3 blacks and 7 blondes

Well, Sally had puppies! 10 of them...OH MY GOODNESS! Did Kyle ever have a cow! :)
But they are ADORABLE! Sally wasn't too set on the whole mothering thing at first. We had to coop her up at my parents house since we live in the only garage we have! :) HA...Anyway, she's such a free spirit that she's not into the whole confinement thing. She actually opened the window on the playhouse she's in and jumped out! So, when I got home, I changed clothes and went in there with her armed with a bottle intent on getting these pups to eat and her to do her duty as a Mama. They all nursed and were doing alright when I left. I just pray none of the pups die...because I will die! They are too cute and so sweet. There are 3 black ones and 7 blonde ones...too cute!
Weston's tee ball team is STILL undefeated! Go FBC! They had another game tonight and did a great job!
Well, it is so past the time I should've been asleep, so I am checkin' out....

Back To Life...Back To Reality

Well, we made it home. I am franctically trying to cram my last quiz and chapter test in before the 11:55 pm deadline, but desperately needed a break. The trip home was my typical travels...delayed. We sat in the Cancun airport for 4 1/2 hours delayed due to computer failure in our inbound plane (really soothing knowing we are about to board a huge metal cylinder that is having computer issues).
But, we made it back and as we pulled up to the driveway, Kylie started to cry and said, "But Mom, I want to go back to Mexico!" They had such an awesome time there! The last day we spent out by the pool (I have an awesome REAL tan!), playing putt-putt, and feeding our faces. You would have thought we were eating for the rest of the year the way we put away the food...but you can't resist.
Once we got back, it was the usual--dirty laundry, messy house, tons of homework!
The kids (and Kyle) have already turned in for the evening, but I have to get this school stuff done or risk losing the points.
All in all, I accomplished quite a bit in Mexico. I got half of the story about Kylie written that I would like to submit to Guideposts. However, I need to finish it and then go back and dramatize it. Plus, I read all of my new Karen Kingsbury book as well and even started the Nicholas Sparks one. So, I had a great relaxing time!
Well, back to the school stuff....

Isla Mujeres

Well, I haven't blogged in a couple of days and I would love to say it is because I have been so incredibly busy that I haven't had a chance, however, it's actually due to being lazy and relaxing with a cold drink and the hot sun mixed with a little sand!
Wednesday, Kylie and I went to the pool for awhile and she splashed and played and had a grand time. Then we headed down to the beach when the boys got back from golfing and hung out by the ocean. Well, Kylie got incredibly sunburnt and ended up looking like a miniature lobster. In fact, she is so burnt that she cries in the middle of the night in pain...I know, bad Mom.
Yesterday, I joined the guys again for a round of golf and actually played better. I decided that I was going to figure out how to play decently enough to have fond memories of the course. So, I choked down on the golf clubs (it was either that or choke my husband) and actually hit the ball!
Then, that afternoon we went to downtown Cancun for some shopping. I think the most memorable part was seeing the hurricane damage and realizing the vast impact that hotel row experienced....I was shocked.
Today, it was off to Isla Mujeres minus the kids! Talk about the best day of the trip so far...we had such a great time. We hooked up with a couple from Washington state and hung out on the island. First, we soaked up the sun with a few drinks, then we ventured to the other side of the island for a little shopping. I love the look and ambiance of the villas. It is beautiful with the bright colored buildings and I love how the shops are all open fronts where people sit outside and entice you to come in. We walked by a cemetery and I went inside. Their cemeteries are much different than ours! It was all above ground and on each tomb were little houses almost where they lay their offerings to the dead. The tombs vary in color, etc. There is no rhyme or reason to the lay out--in fact it is cluttered almost. But beautiful.
I can't mention the Isla trip without talking about the ferry ride out there and back. The "tour guides" were absolutely hilarious. It was one big party on the boat...they played all kinds of music and danced for us, dressed in super hero costumes, and sang. You haven't heard Margaritaville until you have heard it sung with a Mexican accent (that and Grease Lightning)! I loved it!
Well, tomorrow is our last full day and I must say I am sad...sad to return to the "real world" of work and school. However, we have had a grand time here.
We plan to take family pictures tomorrow that we can include on our Christmas cards this year.
Oh, and I checked on Sally (our dog) and no puppies have been born yet, however the vet anticipates their arrival any day, so it looks like we will have them before we return home.

Hasta la vista....

Ek Balam

Well, today we ventured outside of the Palace....we did a day trip to Ek Balam and Valladolid. We had a great time and ate some great food. The venture started around 8:15 this morning when we boarded the tourist bus and set out on our adventure. Our first stop was a little store on the side of the road similar to the one we stopped at for Tulum when we came last time. There were little puppies roaming around and the kids had a a great time. From there, we went on to Ek Balam-a Mayan ruin and walked around for about an hour. The kids and Kyle climbed half way up the rock structure and the Kyle went the rest of the way and took some pictures from the top (hopefully I will figure out how to upload them to my blog while I am here).
After that we went to eat at a Yucatan restaurant...it was open-air and the food was great. We had some sort of Yucatan dish that was on homemade tortillas and pork in a yummy sauce.
After lunch, we loaded back on to the bus and drove to Valldolid...a Mexican town in Yucatan. Kyle described it as a humbling experience and I think that's the best way to sum it up. It is amazing all of the "things" we think we need to survive when these people would dream to experience our worst day. The people were very nice and I don't know how many told Kylie she was beautiful or called her princess!
The day was great even though the weather was a little blah. But, I think that was a blessing in disguise because we weren't hot and sunburnt when it was all said and done.
Our tour guides were very amusing-Daniel and Jorge kept us laughing the whole time. Kyle thought the "chicken pizza" joke was the best though! :)
Well, there are more memories to come...til then......

Round and Round of Golf

Well, we are in our first full day here in Mexico and having such a great time. We got up super early to play golf and of course I stunk! Kyle really loved the course. He couldn't believe how nice it was and considering he hasn't played in 2 years, he did quite well.
Then, it was off to the pool for a little sun. The kids swam and swam and I am working on that golden tan. I want proof I was here! :)
The kids are running down quickly since it is warm and they are staying busy.
Well, time for a siesta before the evening festivities begin.
Tomorrow we are going to do a tour and visit and little villa...should be fun!

What Happens In Mexico....

Well, we made it to Mexico! Can you say heaven? I am so ready to be here and have a week of NOTHING to do! Plus, as you can tell, I have Wi-Fi, which means I can still work on my school work and not get behind!
It is as beautiful here this time as it was November 2004 when we last came. It also feels like I was just here....time really does fly! Kylie has been begging to swim, so I think we are going to head down to the pool in a bit to let the kiddos test out the waters. Kyle has also found his heaven...the all-inclusive, all-you-can-eat buffet!
Well, enough blogging, there is a beach to see!

My Strategy for Strategic Analysis

I am dying in my course right now! We have 2 quizzes, 2 tests, and 2 reflection papers due each week. The professor has them setup where they are due by Sunday of each week--no exceptions. Except that it's summertime (nearly) and many folks are on vacation at some point or another. Like me-who in 3 days heads to sunny Cancun for relaxing! However, it seems like some sort of obstacle course to get there. First, before I can go, I must complete 4 chapters of quizzes, tests, and papers(see, I can't do next week's while I am there, so I have to do it this week). Secondly, Weston, Kylie and I have all been sick the last few days...really sick. Like throw-up sick. Gross, I know. And for some reason the virus (or whatever it is) just lingers and lingers.
SOOOOO....as you can tell, if I make it to next week, it will be a miracle. I am walking the rope 50 feet in the air above the pool of crocodiles hungrily waiting for me to slip and fall. They want lunch, I want a beach and a margarita.
May the best one win.

X-haustion

Ok, I am so sleepy that I probably won't even remember posting this. So, you might find out something juicy in this one! HA! Alright, so it's been almost a week since my last post...why? Well, considering the last one was called To-Do List, you can surmise that I have been busy. I FINALLY got Jordan's slideshow done-and not to my standards, but it's done. I have yet to even open my book for class and everything for this week is due Sunday. Our race car is here for the golf tournament and Family Day. I worked out at the golf course today in the booth and it was such a perfect day to be out! I even got a little sunburnt! I need all the help I can get before going to Cancun...BTW, countdown on that is 1 week from tomorrow. Let me just say I NEED the vacation...it has been such a blankety-blank week for more reasons that you even want. But, hey, it's the weekend....so hopefully I will get to relax a little...Ok, who am I kidding, I haven't relaxed since I was born.
Well, I better get some rest before I collapse.

Saturday To-Do List

Well, it's the weekend! And I have more to do this weekend than can be accomplished in 1 week. My brother's graduation party is next weekend, so I need to get his slideshow complete. Plus, I had someone order one as well as tonight is Bunco. Kyle is also working 1/2 day today, so my free time is limited. It'll get done though.
Weston's camping party had to be postponed due to the weather-poor guy! But, all of the family met at Logan's and ate for his birthday. He really enjoyed that and got to open presents. Jim is out of the hospital now...from what I can tell, they can't reallly do much for him because of an aneurysm now. I think they are going to get a second opinion though.
Well, my next class starts Monday evening and it looks incredibly tough! But, I hope since part of it is online that I will have spare time to work on the extra assignments. The class is called Strategic Analysis and we are competing against other teams in the class on a business model.
Well, Kylie is throwing a tantrum, so I guess I will close this out for now.

The Heart Won't Lie

Well, I just got word that my step-dad is in the hopsital from a possible heart attack. Not sure what all happened, but evidently they kept him overnight and gave him the nitro stuff.
Problem is, they aren't speaking to me....so, my knowledge of this comes secondhand. So, what caused the Hatfield and McCoy split? I'll give you two guesses...they are short, 4 legged and have been nothing but a nuisance to me...you guessed it, the mini horses (or giant dogs whichever you want to view it as). We now have two gates to keep them in--1 gate is rather nice. It has an electric opener, etc. The other gate is a fence that needs to be replaced with a gate, but I'm too stubborn to tank the ADDITIONAL funds to buy one. My philosophy is this-a fence is designed to keep things in....not out. As well as the fact that I am just continually installing more and more gates to get to the end of the road. I feel like that owl licking the Tootsie Pop...How many gates does it take to get to the end of the road...1, 2...CRUNCH! That's what happened! I bit and they got mad.
But, their side of the story is that they were gracious enough to let us live near them, so we need to deal with the dilemmas that come with it. It's a debt that can never be repaid because there is no amount good enough! Funny how family members keep up generational curses. To me, a gift has no strings, receipts, tags, spreadsheets, or guilt attached! Which leaves me feeling more like feuding neighbors than family. As well as scrambling to find school funds. But anyone that knows me is aware that I will not let a challenge stand in my way. School will be paid for, we will live there or somewhere else and life will go on. I am not worried in the least bit--just put out that I lost to over a dozen mini-horses.

Live from the Grand Ole Opry

So, last weekend it was poolside in Orlando, this weekend it is out in the audience at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN. I am beginning to feel like a world traveler....with serious jetlag.
But first things first--I finished ALL of the papers and team project for my class! YEAH! I even get a Thursday night off this coming Thursday. I am going to relish it because it will probably be the last one I see for awhile. For those keeping score, that is 9 hours down (yes, in 4 months with a job and 3 work trips!) and only 25 (or so) to go. I am hoping to complete this degree in August '07.
Now back to the travels. I am in Nashville, TN this week for a Military conference. Kyle was able to come with me and we left a few days early to see the sights! Today we went to the Opry Mall and shopped a bit. Then, tonight we went to the Grand Ole Opry. The big names there were Jennifer Hanson and Craig Morgan. I wish we had been one weekend later--Joe Nichols and Julie Roberts will be there then! :( Oh well, it was still a great time!
I am ready to be home for a little while though. I honestly can't remember my last weekend home. I will probably be lost when it happens!
Tomorrow we plan to do the downtown tour of Music Row, etc. Hopefully it won't rain too bad.
We also did a little shopping today for Weston's birthday and picked up a few movies for him--King Kong, Chronicles of Narnia and Garfield--from my grandma. He's turning 6! I can't believe it has been 6 years!
Well, I am ready to turn in for the evening! See ya!

Sunburn vs Screenburn

So, in Orlando with an awesome pool, 85 degree weather and libations (new term for me...sounded dirty at first, but soon realized it is a fancy way to say alcoholic beverage here), one would expect to suffer a little sunburn. Well, I am probably the only person here out of the umpteen million guests suffering from screenburn due to holing up in my room writing grad papers. HOWEVER, 1 paper is finished! Yes, finished and even emailed to the professor! The only glitch in the paper was that I wrote 9 pages versus the 5 page limit...let's see how much he values content over guideline. I wrote a nice note in the email that he requested so much information that I HAD to go over the limit.
Anyway, stay tuned for the grade! 1 more paper and a few slides for my presentation to go and then I am home free til May 12th...that's when I start my Strategic Analysis course.
We are at the official Day 1 of the conference. Last night kicked off the event with a reception and refreshments. Some goodies were not so refreshing...like fig and goat cheese on a soggy cracker-YUCK! Others were yummy-quesadillas with guacamole.
After the reception we went down to the restaurant and ate real food-Denise picked up the tab thank goodness because the $25/day limit would not suffice here. A mini pizza was $15 and the water here is horrendous so I ordered a bottled water-$10. In the defense of the bottled water, it was Evian and was rather large, but come on-$10? There is a Starbucks at the hotel, so I am in mocha heaven! At the awful price of $4.57 per cup however!
Well, I am on a break from the conference trying to get the writing juices flowing for my final paper, so I better get back to the writing that is due!

Working (Wo)man's Blues

Well, I am in sunny Orlando, FL for my Yellow Page conference. The hotel we are staying at is definitely "uppity" and has tons of perks I won't be utilizing due to the excess in cost! For example, our refrigerator is stocked with drinks...sodas, liquor, etc. However, the canned coke is $3. No thanks. Just not that thirsty! There's something about price-gouging that just leaves me with no desire to quench my thirst.
Well, I am FRANTICALLY trying to write my last 2 papers and finish up my team project! AAHH! But on a good note (which is driving my diligence to complete my assignments), I made a 75/75, yes 100%, on my first paper in the class! I about fell out of my chair when I saw my grade! That is definitely rewarding considering I had spent HOURS at Sweet Bay cramming, writing, and rewriting!
Now, to keep up the standard! I am worried these won't be as easy...It's hard to concentrate here. But I will do my best!
Well, I better get started...the papers aren't going to write themselves!

The Lil' Things

Well, we are HOME this weekend...yes, home. I know, I know...I'll give you a minute to pick your chin up. Now, are you alright?
Ok, so I will have to write about the little things going on. First, it's Easter weekend, so we will be spending Sunday split between the families. Tonight we went to Weston's first teeball game. It was just a pratice round, but the season is definitely getting ready to begin. I needed practice in being a teeball Mom as well....I found myself a little frustrated during the game and could've easily gotten in trouble with my mouth! However, the other team did need to stay in the batter's box--it was clear they invented the concept because of that team. Weston did well-he hit the ball everytime and scored a run the last hit. He is still going to have to learn to pay attention. He looked SO cute in the field though. He got some cool sunglasses today and insisted on wearing them to the game!
Tomorrow is our motorcycle ride! I am excited and all the parents and grandparents are scared to death....They have been giving us a daily report on the fatalities. It's not like we've haven't ridden before. I do understand though that we can't control the other people on the road. So, I will make sure we pray before we ride and then enjoy ourselves. Hopefully the weather will hold out as well!
Well, we just ordered a pay-per-view movie--Yours, Mine, and Ours. So, I will write more later!

Dallas does NASCAR

Well, I couldn't stand it. Dallas was just too close to not drive to the NASCAR race...I think I am officially hooked! So, Kyle, the kids, and I set out for Dallas Friday evening after work. The kids did awesome during the drive there. It was probably because it got dark and they couldn't see each other to pester! We got to Greg and Carrie's house around 10:30 or so. I was so pooped from the conference the 3 days before and then packing up and going after work that day. I fell asleep during the first 20 minutes of Harry Potter! Sorry guys! :) Saturday morning saw us up fairly early (ok 7:30, but hey I was EXHAUSTED!) and we got ready so that we could leave and have a few hours before the race to swing in the hospitality booth and the merchandise section. Since this is Kyle's first race, I wanted us to have enough time to relish it. Once we got there I called Todd (see last NASCAR race blog for who he is) and told him we were there to see if he could "sneak" us into the hospitality booth. You would think I would have enough clout to get into my own company's entertainment booth...HA! Anyway, we got in and I talked with several of the RVP's and sales managers/representatives from Dallas. Everyone was very friendly and the food wasn't too bad...Kylie would have LOVED it-they had a huge thing of cooked mushrooms! After we ate and hung out a bit, we headed out to the merchandise tents. I was amazed at all of the people that were there! Definitely a lot more than Atlanta...We headed into the race shortly thereafter and the fun began...as well as the sunburn! But we enjoyed it anyway--we got to witness firsthand the "snow angel" in action after his win!

Milestones the Trilogy!

Part 3 (Read part 1 and 2 first for full effect).... **NEW** See picture link at right under LINKS for pictures from Milestone!
After our lessons, Don Soderquist and Andy Wilson came and spoke for about an hour. I have to say that the most moving story out of the visit was "The Chair". He talked about how Sam Walton encouraged him to never make a decision from the chair. He then told about how several lives could have been affected by a decision he made had he not gotten up and went to the problem. Instead, he asked questions and learned from a different perspective. After chatting with them, we ate dinner in the formal dining room which overlooked the lake. It was such a beautiful view at sunset! Not to mention, Johnny Carino's was yummy for dinner. I must say it was a long, long day, but very interesting.
Wednesday found us up early and off to a busy start. After breakfast, we went out to the ropes course to give it a try. The only rule was that after we paired up with a partner, when our partner was on the ropes, we could not talk to them--which meant we couldn't provide encouragement, instruction, or feedback. The lesson in this was for us to try and practice self-management and the inner voices that affect us. So, I am not fond of the ropes course, but hey I am willing to give it a chance since I was able to climb the Alpine Tower. Jason was my partner and he was part of the crew that helped build the ropes course. I'm thinking...I can do this!
Well, not sure what happened to me after that. I was doing great during the first 2 segments of the course. Then, a lady a couple of segments ahead of me panicked and decided she wants down. Well, there is this chain reaction that happens. There are two people between she and I. The lady between us takes off on one of the segments and ends up falling. Which leaves me waiting for them to "rescue" two people between my section and the ladies. So, I am standing there balancing for like 6 minutes on this wire holding onto a rope and my legs and feet got extremely tired! By the time I made it to the next platform, I couldn't go further. I was so bummed....I mean after doing the Alpine Tower, I felt this thing was going to be easy! But I definitely learned more this time around than I did during the Alpine Tower. I came to realize how much my internal voices affect me! We weren't allowed to encourage each other at all during the course which meant that it was total silence and all you could hear was yourself thinking. Which meant that when I got to the point where I was stuck, all I could hear was, "You better get down too...you know you can't do this!" It was so frustrating to know I could have finished the course, but I learned a lot about how I view myself. It was definitely worth the lesson. I know that I fear failure, however there are many times that I feel a failure as well.
But there were more lessons to come....oh were there ever! So, we are then split up into 3 groups and were assigned a group leader. Cindy is our leader and we load up into a van. Cindy hands us an envelope as we are heading on our way (I am beginning to learn to fear the envelope!) and Carol, a girl our group reads it aloud to us. The first page talks about the 3 socioecnomic classes in NW Arkansas. Each group from JBU is going to represent a group. The next page would outline our social class and money allotted for lunch. So, Carol turns the page to read "Your life has been a series of unfortunate events..." at the top of the page. The figure $10 glares at us along with instructions on how to spend the $10....like food stamps! Yes, we had $10 for lunch to feed 7 people. So, we had to come up with a game plan. Someone suggested Aldi's, which evidently is a cheaper grocery store. I would compare its contents to something like the Always Save brand. Ok, the list says we can only buy bread, water, lunch meat, cheese, PBJ, and chips. We could not add money to our funds and we couldn't eat anything that was not on the list. So as we are driving to Aldi's, Cindy decides its time to put the icing on the cake! She tells us thatwe each have to put a shirt on out of the trash bag she is holding. Well, somehow I get stuck with the Garth Brooks Mickey Mouse shirt! It was horrid....But as we go into Aldi's, we notice that we really don't stick out. So, I am thinking, this really isn't that bad....we grab some items off of the list...lunch meat, bread, chips, and bottled water. We couldn't buy plates, etc to eat with. We finally decided to just pull over and eat on the side of the road. It was such a surreal experience. The food was gross...I couldn't even eat. It was also hard to eat because you realize that there are people who have no more than what you are "pretending" to have.
After lunch, the experience isn't over. We are then dropped off at the Fayetteville mall--still wearing our shirts by the way! We are again handed an envelope and told to go by ourselves for the next initiative. The sheet of paper says to go to the store of our choice and ask for a job application and spend at least 3 minutes talking to the store person about the job and specifically ask them, "Do you think I would be a fit for this job?" Ok, this was stretching me! But I decided the only way to fully experience the initiative would be to go to a store that I would feel to be a challenge. So, I went to Wet Seal and spoke to the manager. She was so non-judgmental! She did awesome...she never once blinked an eye at what I had on...she even offered me the job!
When we got back to the house after the experience, we got to hear about the other 2 groups experiences....$15 PER person lunch and $5 per person lunches! Boy, were we jealous (and hungry after listening to their meals!) But, I honestly learned more with my experience. I forgot how much I have to be faithful for and how much some people struggle just to eat. It was definitely a humbling day.
That evening we had a few guest speakers and ate quesadillas! The speakers did an awesome job...I particularly loved listening to one lady who spoke about how success shouldn't be measured using someone else's bar. It should be what makes us proud and what we're happy about. I have spent far too much of my life measuring my success with someone else's measuring cup. It wasn't until the past 2 years that I have learned my happiness isn't going to exist in someone else's successes. It has to be mine...I have to be the one who sets the bar. With that, we also discussed balance in life...something I definitely don't have! But, I think my challenges are temporary and there are things in my life that I would like to achieve. As long as the sacrifice is short-term (hey, they say 2 year program for your Masters), then it's worth the sacrifice. But, I couldn't live my life in high gear all the time....
The next morning saw us up bright and early...AGAIN! But, it is Day 3, the final day. I had my assessement with Wendy at 7 that morning. We discussed personal areas that I could work on based on a couple of assessment tests I took. Probably my biggest surprise was that I am easily distracted both internally and externally. But the more I thought about it, the more it is right. I let things distract me that have nothing to do with my current efforts and really deserve no thought at all. Secondly, I am very critical of myself (big surprise-HA!)...I knew this already. I can rip myself apart faster and better than anyone I know. So, I made a promise to myself to really work on these 2 areas when I left the seminar.
After breakfast, they drove us to downtown Rogers, AR and dropped us off at an abandoned hotel (I am thinking, PLEASE, PLEASE don't make me starve for lunch again!). Upon arriving, we found out that we are going to be playing CSI. It was so much fun! We spent the next 4 hours "investigating" a murder. We collected evidence and then went around town searching for clues. Finally, at the end we found our suspect and I got to put the handcuffs on him! This guy was a firefighter for Rogers, AR and was probably taller than Kyle (though not much taller). He was very broad-shouldered. When I put the handcuffs on him, on the second cuff, you are supposed to "shake" the hand of the suspect to hold the hand in place. Well, he about broke my hand squeezing it so tight...he was definitely an intimidating suspect.
The rest of the afternoon was spent preparing and presenting on what we would "Keep, Stop, Start" in regards to the things we learned as well as our values.
BTW...my values are Respect, Fairness, Empathy, Perseverance and Humility. I firmly believe in being non-judgmental (guess I have been judged one too many times) and that people should treat others fairly. I'm not perfect, but I can say that the life experiences I have been through have definitely molded my values. Stating your values gives you direction and accountability. It shapes you because you have something to work for and live by.
Kyle and I started working on his values the other night. He thought it was going to be hard to come up with them, but after I got him started on how to figure them out, he had 3 determined in 30 minutes! I will let him share his values though in his own blog.....
Well, tomorrow I will hopefully catch up and write about this past weekend with NASCAR.
Til then,
T

Milestones Continued.....

Part 2 (Read part 1 first for full effect....)
So, I pull up at the house and get settled inside. I feel as if I am at church camp again only in some fancy mansion because there are 5 of us to a bedroom. However, "bedroom" is a loose term in the sense that this room has 2 long (probably 25 feet?) bathrooms...his and hers. The room is rather spacious (it holds 2 full size beds and 3 roll-aways, desk, sitting area...need I go on?). The counters in the bathroom are made of some really expensive marble. The place reminds of the ranch that Mom and Jim used to live at in Edmond only 3 times nicer!
Our first meeting is in the Great Room. The Great Room is a great big room! It has furniture that per piece is more expensive than my car! I feel as if I am on some pampered retreat...yet I remind myself I am earning college credit here! Once we meet in the Great Room, Wendy, our leader, presents us with an envelope. There are 18 of us students convened here and we open the envelope...now this is beginning to feel like some weird game of Clue (considering the surroundings). The envelope is a scavenger hunt throughout the house that has a reflective moment attached with each new envelope. What inspires you? What motivates you? It was definitely an interesting way to tour the home!
After our guided tour, we head to the Learning Center for "classroom work". Let me say, the lessons here are incredible. What I have learned about myself, my relational aspects with others, and social awareness in general is refreshing, intriguing, and definitely convicting. I thought an awesome quote from the first day (ok, I have several, so the 1st awesome quote) was "I don't know what you value until I have seen it cost you." Not sure who to give credit to on that one, but it's very convicting. What do I value? What would hurt the most if I lost it? And most importantly, are my values in the right things?
Well, dinnertime is now! So, til the next blog!

Milestones

Part I
So, it's Day 2 of our Milestone Seminar...yes, I got my paper written finally! Oh, the elation I felt to have that behind me. So, I will recap a little bit of yesterday and catch you up on the proceedings of the conference. The journey started Tuesday morning when I left around 6:30 am from the house...I had one pit stop to make, but other than that I was on my way. What was the pit stop?? HELLO! It was April 4th...the release of Rascal Flatt's new album. So, I made a beeline for Wal-Mart, grabbed my bonus pack and I was on my way. First, the important stuff...the CD is awesome. I have to say it's one of their better ones. It covers all the bases. In fact, I found an awesome song on it for my brother's graduation slideshow called My Wish. Ok, back to the story. So, I head toward Rogers, thinking I am making such good time. I was supposed to be there by 8:30 am...no problem. Or so I thought! Because this "country" girl didn't realize that she would experience "city" traffic on her way. I sat on the interstate at a complete standstill for about 15 minutes...by this point it is 8 am and I am several, several exits from my destination. So, I FINALLY make it to the right exit and misread my directions. I thought it said 2nd stop light, well it says 2nd st. stop light. I put it all together and realize that I am on 34th street....8:30 at this point. So, I make it to 2nd STREET stoplight finally and find all the other turns fairly well from there, just late. It's 9 am when I pull up to this gated property. I identify myself at the gate that opens (NOW THAT's a gate opener!!!) When I arrive at the circle drive in front of this huge "Manor", I am immediately greeted and my car is valet-parked. SWEET! I couldn't believe the service. After all, I am technically "in class"....luckily they haven't started yet, so I head inside (oh yeah, they even carry my bags in for me). The place is gorgeous and huge! Rumor is that the manor sits on 95 acres and the back wall of the place is mostly windows to view the lake from. What a place!
Well, it's time for class to start again...more to come!

Saturday Night

Well, we made it back home. We didn't get to eat at PF Chang's last night, but we went today for lunch instead...well worth the wait. 9 hours later I am still stuffed! It was so yummy though. Kylie even ate with chopsticks! I do good to get my food to my mouth with a fork/spoon and my 3-year old is using chopsticks! I am so miserable though...we ate out at 3 awesome restaurants all in a 24-hour period...too bad we couldn't spread them out over the course of a week or so.
I am dreading tomorrow...why? Because I HAVE to write that paper that is due Tuesday. The problem is my muse is on vacation. She won't be back until next weekend which is a little too late. So, I guess I am going to have to figure this one out on my own. Believe it or not, I suffer from serious writer's block. Stop laughing...yes there are times that even I am at a loss for words. It's usually when I am required to write about a school topic.
We just got back from a Sunday School party...not so much fun. The guys played volleyball while the women worked vigorously to keep the kids out of the middle of the game. My kids weren't bad. The problem was that Kylie kept getting hit with a basketball that a few of the kids were playing with. Well, the ball popped her so good one time that she started crying hard. Which made matters worse because then she decided to get choked and leave a 15 foot trail of vomit from the table to the bathroom....Gross. I am not one for throw-up when I am trying to eat. After we cleaned her up, she was fine though. I wasn't....I was bored and everyone was cranky that I was sitting with so I was past ready to go!
Well, this paper isn't writing itself, so I am going to check out and try to get something accomplish this evening...that way I will feel ahead tomorrow!
Good night....
